- Strong to severe storms possible later today

Ingredients in place for potential severe weather this afternoon
and evening - but it is still far from a slam dunk severe weather
day. Range of possibilities still include just a few showers/storms
to a well formed line of potential storms capable of wind damage.

Risk of morning showers/thunderstorms has mostly diminished based
on radar trends to the west and that there appears to be a cap in
place through a good chunk of the morning hours. Cold front later
today should be the main trigger for any storms that develop.

I-96ish and south still seems to be the better area for any
potential severe weather...though wave energy diving south through
Northeast Illinois/Northern Indiana may still steal away the
storms from west michigan. Northern wave could produce some strong
storms in the northern two rows of counties...though most model
trends indicate this northern stream to be the weaker of the storm
potential for the day.

Regardless...wind damage threat still the main hazard today with
large hail not as big a threat. Target time for any potential
severe weather today should generally be in the 1pm to 7pm time
frame, so no change in expectations there from yesterday.


- Building heat next week with thunderstorm chances at times

No significant change in expectations for the heat returning early
this week, with persistent hot weather hanging on into next
weekend. Warmest days still look to be Wednesday and Thursday,
though trends are showing that Wednesday through Saturday could
all be similar temperature and humidity wise with highs at and
above 90 for all four days not out of the realm of possibility.

Limitation on heat might be cloud cover and temperature moderation
by any thunderstorm activity that may occur. Still expect a good
chance for some storms that could be slow moving heavy rainers as
well - anytime from Wednesday into the weekend.

Some light fog this morning should erode quickly after sunrise.
Showers/thunderstorms develop early this afternoon but spotty
coverage is possible so confidence is still not high in impacts to
terminals. Showers/storms to move off shortly after 00z. Light
winds and some fog likely to develop late in the taf period around
or shortly after 06z Sunday morning.

Thunderstorms may bring periods of hazardous conditions early
Saturday. Otherwise...expectation is for winds to remain below 15
kts and waves generally less than 2 feet. Sunday sees a little
increase in winds and could be a borderline beach hazard
day...especially in the afternoon and evening.
